How to Download Audio from Instagram Reels
Instagram does not give you a button to save a reel's sound as an audio file. You can save a reel to your collection or, for your own reels, download the video. To get only the audio as MP3 or M4A, the quickest way is an online tool such as AudioFromReels. Here is how, on every device.
Before you start
- The reel must be public. Private accounts cannot be read.
- Decide on the format: MP3 for sharing, M4A for editing.
- Remember that reel audio is often copyrighted. See the note at the end.
On iPhone or iPad
- In Instagram, open the reel and tap the paper-plane Share icon.
- Tap Copy link.
- Open audiofromreels.com in Safari and paste the link.
- Tap Get audio, check the preview, choose MP3 or M4A, then Download.
- Tap the download icon in Safari's address bar, or open Files > Downloads.
On Android
- Open the reel, tap Share, then Copy link.
- Open the site in Chrome and paste the link.
- Press Get audio, then Download.
- Find the file in Files > Downloads or your music app.
On Windows or Mac
- Open the reel in your browser and copy the address from the address bar.
- Paste it into AudioFromReels and press Get audio.
- Download the file and open it in your player or editor.
MP3 vs M4A: which one?
MP3 works nearly everywhere. M4A is closer to Instagram's original audio and is the better choice for video editors. If an app will not play one format, download the other.
Save your own reel's audio
If you posted the reel, keep the original project file when you can. A tool like this is a handy backup if you only have the published version.
FAQ
Can I download audio from a private account?
No. Only public reels can be read.
Is it free?
Yes.
Why is there no download button in Instagram?
Instagram keeps audio inside its platform for licensing reasons. You can save audio to your Instagram audio list inside the app, but not as a file.
